Friday the 13th (but I’m not superstitious)

August 13, 2010 by D. A. Wolf 12 Comments

Friday the 13th?

No – I’m not going to tackle slasher movies, and I’m not going to write about superstitions!

But with the proverbial places to go and people to see (as alliteration ambles along my edges), how about 13 possible posts for your perusal – in honor of Friday the 13th?

…
Up for art?

  • Red, White, and Blue (art, that is)
  • Fanciful Photog Julie Blackmon
  • Do we choose our passions?

…

Prefer to ponder quirky questions?

  • Why I wouldn’t shave my head
  • Why Facebook sucks for your sex life
  • Why I choose to think like a man

…
Friday flirting? Rabid rhymes?

  • Lust and Lingerie
  • Are French men irresistible?
  • Breakfast Foods, Departing Broods
  • Sudden Outbreak of Rhymatoid ArtWriteUs

…

Serious stuff (but you may like it)

  • Stenography
  • Failure to Thrive
  • Is Happiness the Latest Trend?

Enjoy your Friday, and expect the unexpected – wide loads stalling on skinny streets, falling limbs from toppling trees, and the classic – black cats! I’ve already had to avoid the first two this morning. Must I really keep an eye out for the third?

BLW, fun way to honor Friday the 13th. I grew up in a superstitious household and poked a lot of fun at my parents for all the rituals that they did to avoid bad luck.

It will be interesting to see if you get more superstitious as you get older, Rudri. All those rituals, as you say. They make us smile thinking back.

Yeah, T – a little different today – but doing 13 links took me longer than if I’d written something entirely different. Go figure… But it was fun browsing some of the older things I’d written (though I haven’t suffered from a bout of rhyme-crime in some time).

      You enjoy your weekend, too.

I love black cats! Had one for 12 years. Her name was Smudge because she was as big as a little smudge on the wall when we got her. Anyway, look for a third because 3 is a divine number! I think I’ve read most of the suggested readings for the day. Hmmm, that must mean I’m completely caught up!

I’m going to a local Dancing with the Stars competition. I would not want to be dancing on a stage tonight!

Love it! Dancing sounds like fun (but good thinking, Kelly – wouldn’t want to sashay off the edge of a stage).

Lisa – Smudge is a cool name. (Black cats are beautiful and eerie, aren’t they?)

Everything comes in threes so, beware that 3rd black cat is out there somewhere.

Goodness! So much material I haven’t read! I clicked on Rhymatoid ArtWriteUs and laughed my head off!

This, you know, I completely get:
    artfully attired to splay
heel and arch in fine display.

And this, so relieved I’m not the only one!
    Ach! Damnation! Where’s my cure???
    (Even rhyming, thoughts impure.)

Funny, enjoyed this read, I am not superstitious at all, growing up in a household that wouldn’t hear of it. However, most things I read today are about the date and day, and to be honest I didn’t even remember that it was Friday the 13th. Funny enjoy the rest of the day!!
