At a time when the health care debate is raging, and we often feel overwhelmed by mounting medical costs and what seems like indifferent or below average care, it’s important to point out positive examples. There are many – when fine physicians and state-of-the-art facilities work wonders.
Babies are always miracles, even when there aren’t complications. But if there are, when that new life arrives on the scene, it’s a miracle of a whole other sort. And one helped along by loving and supportive family members, a pregnant mother who perseveres through fear, frustration, confinement, monitoring, a variety of medications and procedures – and often more – to bring that little soul into the world.
A dear friend sent an email during the night. The difficult pregnancy of his daughter was finally at an end – with the birth to the new Mom and Dad of their 4 pound 5 ounce son, at 32 weeks, after plenty of scares these past months. Baby Boy E is healthy and doing well.
In this case, the Mom is fortunate to have a loving husband and close knit family. Courage – on the part of all – along with the expertise of doctors, nurses, technicians, and other specialists – have helped this family become Family + One.
Congrats, and bravo!

My daughter was 4 and a half pounds born just a shade before 35 weeks, so she spent her first week in the NICU.
She was the biggest little one in the NICU, and only in the little ventilator for a few days, but it was an incredible experience and the people i met that worked there were among the kindest people i have met in my life.
It is really incredible the little kids that are born tiny and grow up healthy!

NICU nurses are THE BEST. We encountered some amazing professionals there.
