For a change, I thought I’d offer up a nice plate overflowing with images. It’s tennis time around here, and I dug through some of my best memories, and found some cool shots of tennis stars – at work and at play. Or is that at play and at play?
As Day 3 of the US Open kicks off, hope you enjoy!
Who do you remember? Who got your adrenaline pushing on the court, or in those hot shots taken at social events? I can imagine a few…
The ladies at work include a few faves from days (not long) gone by
One red hot player on the circuit was Sabatini. She could draw a crowd wherever she went.
Jennifer Capriati was the teenage sweetheart who was one to watch, for a few years anyway.
She had her problems – too much too soon? A few years later, she attempted a shortlived comeback.
…
…
That didn’t go too far, but she’s looking well in this New York Times online pic, from earlier this year.
Andre and Steffi
A pretty dynamic duo if ever there was one. Talent, talent talent. And maturing with so much grace and class.. Honored as the US Open opened, just 3 nights ago, Andre Agassi gives back to the game and the world of education, in a very personal way.
Andre and Brooke? Never made sense. Andre and Steffi? Class and quality, all the way.
He’s come a long way from that flying hair and attitude! Ain’t growing up grand?
Williams sisters at work and at play. Hot, hot, hot at both!
Can’t help it. Some of the greats are also great to look at! Whatever they’re up to – wild athletics, or taking a moment.
…
Rafa – you sure do move!
And Andy, you’re a cutie. I do love watching you play!
…
And who still gets looked at? Yep. She does.
And I can’t really imagine that’s going to change any time soon. Can you?
I had loads of pictures to choose from when it came to Anna Kournikova. But I know you guys know how to find them as easily as I do…
But there are a few others on the tour worthy of admiration of all sorts. And we’ll be seeing one of them play with gusto – Maria Sharipova.
...
…
…
…
…
I think you’ll agree – Maria is certainly no slouch – on or off the hard court.
SO many more I’d like to put here – as examples of giving the game enormous energy, style, and professionalism. Borg, Becker, Connors, McEnroe (what fireworks!), Ashe, Edberg, of course Billie Jean King, Navratalova… but this will have to do – for now!
