I’m rushing to get out of the house. My kid forgot his tennis shoes. Again. He needs them for school, and he needs them now.
I’m mid-screen, mid-writing, mid-hair drying, mid-bill paying. And now the damn house phone rings, then my cell phone. It’s someone I know – not well – who wants something from me. Always. He’s got an agenda, and it may or may not be in my best interest. But it irritates the hell out of me that he calls. Over and over again, no matter how many times I tell him no!
Everyone has an agenda. These days – with the recession – more than ever. And I get that. Really. I have an agenda of my own. Many of them! That’s normal – it’s how we get things DONE in life. And mutually beneficial agendas are the best. The proverbial win-win.
But this guy? And several others, each touting a possible venture, their services, some magic solution to whatever-it-is-this-week woes, or just wanting to pick my brain and solicit my skills for free?
No. Gimme a break. Stay off my land line and off my cell and OUTTA my email!
Do you have an agenda? Are you getting hassled by those who do, and who don’t see the fine line, even though we’re all driven to greater extremes in these difficult times?

I find if I ignore people and their agendas, they usually go away. Be like water. Yield.
