Three cheers for miracle babies!
I just had to give a jubilant shout-out across the ocean to an old friend. He gave me a ring this afternoon to share a happy event, the birth of his daughter. She’s five weeks premature but mother and child are doing great!
Let’s hear it for miracles and miracle babies! For the positive stories of parents who persist through more heartache than I can imagine, so they can give each other – and a child – the gift of their love.
Just call me a sentimental fool. I admit it! And I know I was lucky to have two healthy kids in my late 30s, who’ve been my joyful privilege ever since.
Not everyone is so fortunate. And this couple – after many years, many tries, and numerous miscarriages – just got their miracle.
I’m raising my glass
Here’s to the power of hope, determination, and whatever else you may believe in! They were told to stop trying, but they never gave up. That’s a lesson for the dreamer in all of us.
So tonight I’ll toast to mysteries and miracles, to relief and celebration, with more to come when that lucky little girl goes home from the hospital to her adoring parents.

My nephew was born about a month before he was supposed to come out. He’s doing fine. One of my friends form college’s daughter on the other hand, didn’t want to come out for some reason. So it took her awhile.
